I was wondering if clipping of new lower growth branches is required on a climbing hydranga. My plant was put in the ground last fall and is climbing now but a lot of new stems shooting out on the bottom. Should they remain or clipped to let the longer climbing ones grow. We have seen no sign of flowering as of yet this year. Does anyone have any info on this?
