Periwinkle is an excellent groundcover for shady landscapes. It has glossy-green small leaves on trailing vines. Blue-violet flowers appear in early spring. It is good for erosion control on banks, in woodland gardens, or as an underplanting for shrubs. It has a moderate growth rate.
