- This mid-summer flowering tree has drooping panicles of white bell shaped flowers. It is a native, and its flowers are an important source of nectar for honey in some areas. One of the most ornamental characteristics of the Sourwood tree is the fall color, which is early and intense. It is a wonderful tree for a woodland planting, or as a specimen in a shady garden. Very slow growing.
