Silver Carpet Lamb's Ears

  • Botanical Name:    Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet'
  • Height:    4-6"
  • Spread:    18-24" +
  • Exposure:    Sun
  • Care:    Cut to ground in late fall or in spring before new growth emerges.
  • Deer Resistant
  • 'Silver Carpet' is grown for its thick, soft, velvety, silvery leaves which typically form a rapidly spreading mat approximately 4-6" off the ground. Leaf shape and texture resemble a lamb's ear, hence the common name. This variety is a dwarf, smaller than the old-fashioned variety and is non-flowering (or rarely flowering). It holds up better to heat and humidity, and doesn't require deadheading. Great as a edging, groundcover, or border plant. Requires well drained soils.
