  • Pansies provide cheery spring color, and are frost and cold resistant. They can also be planted in the fall, when your summer annuals are looking tired or are killed back by frost to provide fall color and have a head start on spring. They will also provide color during mild spells in winter. They don't tolerate heat well, so you will need to replace them in early summer with more heat tolerant flowers.
