- Skip Laurels are broadleaf evergreen shrubs that are useful for hedges or for screening. They also make excellent background plantings. They have glossy green leaves and maintain a dense habit. Protection from winter wind is important. They need well drained soil in sun or partial shade. They are pest resistant and have few problems in the landscape. Skip Laurel is a lush-growing shrub with abundant showy white flower spikes and small black fruit. It has a dense, upright form. A fine year round presence in the garden.
