Sun Perennial

Siskyou Pink Gaura, Pink Wandflower

  • Botanical Name:    Gaura lindheimeri 'Siskyou Pink'
  • Height:    2-3' +
  • Spread:    18" to 24"
  • Exposure:    Sun
  • Care:    Cut to ground in spring before new growth begins. Trim flower stalks when flowers fade; they will regenerate quickly.
  • Somewhat Deer resistant
  • 'Siskyou Pink' sports masses of small bright pink flowers on numerous long stems held above the low growing foliage. One of the longest blooming of all perennials. One trim of faded flower stems is sufficient to start the show all over again. Looks good enough to be planted as in a container, where it can be the centerpiece as it blooms all season long. Attracts butterflies. Will not tolerate wet, poorly drained clay soils in winter. It may not come back because of this. But even if it doesn't reliably overwinter, I'd still plant it as an annual, it is so showy in bloom. There are several varieties available, in different heights, flower colors (whites and shades of pink), and some with dark red leaves.
