Wonderful evergreen perennial. Moderate spreading habit. Most of the year, the leaves are a beautiful glossy green, but in the winter the cooler temperatures will turn them a wonderful reddish burgundy color. Small bell shaped flowers are produced in early spring. There are many cultivars available, with different colored flowers (all Pink and White shades) and leaf sizes and fall colorations. Bergenia tolerates a wide range of light conditions, including Shade. Great as a small scale groundcover, accent plant, rock garden or border plant.
