  • Bamboo is often thought of as an invasive plant to be avoided, but we believe that if you employ good control strategies, it can serve a useful and ornamental purpose. It makes and excellent screen for difficult areas, and is very attractive. Contact us if you have questions about how we maintain bamboo, as we have extensive experience. Red Margin Bamboo has shown to be the hardiest large growing bamboo in trials. It is a fast grower, and will form a dense screen. It will tolerate our cold, dry winds better than most other large bamboo species. With new bamboo plantings, it is important to be patient at first. There is a saying about planting bamboo: "The first year it sleeps, the second year it creeps, and the third year it leaps!" Maximum height and diameter information (above) is for long established groves, and may also be limited by our climate.
