  • Hino Crimson is a spectacular red flowering variety with attractive, very small glossy dark green leaves. It is a dwarf variety. The foliage turns bronze in winter. The spectacular spring flowers of azaleas and rhododendrons make them among the most popular garden shrubs. They prefer partial shade in acid, well drained soil. The best time to prune is right after bloom, as they set flower buds during the summer and fall for the following spring. Do not prune after June. Azaleas have shallow, fibrous root systems, so adequate irrigation is important. Most evergreen species will not tolerate wet soil, however so good drainage is also important. Fertilize yearly with Hollytone.
