  • Delaware Valley White is a popular old variety. It has pure white blossoms and bright green foliage, which turns yellow in fall. It is a mid-spring bloomer. The spectacular spring flowers of azaleas and rhododendrons make them among the most popular garden shrubs. They prefer partial shade in acid, well drained soil. The best time to prune is right after bloom, as they set flower buds during the summer and fall for the following spring. Do not prune after June. Azaleas have shallow, fibrous root systems, so adequate irrigation is important. Most evergreen species will not tolerate wet soil, however so good drainage is also important. Fertilize yearly with Hollytone.
